BitTorrent（簡稱BT，俗稱BT下載、變態下載）是一個多點下載的源碼公開的P2P軟件，使用非常方便，就像一個瀏覽器插件，很適合新發佈的熱門下載。其特點簡單的說就是：下載的人越多，速度越快 。作者主頁：http://bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent/ 具體原理請看：xxxxxx

1、BitTorrent下載：
　　下載BT客戶端v3.2.1 [2.6M]
　　http://bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent/
　　（請到以上地址下載以支持原作者，請不要另外提供地址下載）

2、BitTorrent安裝
　　下載回來約2.6M的安裝文件，雙擊，會看到一個窗口顯示安裝完成(不用找執行程序，已經可以用了).：

3、BitTorrent卸載
　　總有人問這個問題，其實答案很簡單：控制面板->添加刪除程序->卸載BitTorrent

4、BitTorrent使用
　　用BT下載必須先在網上找到.torrent文件，

　　國內的BT發佈站點目前是 http://btfans.3322.org/

　　以btfans站點為例，左鍵點擊網頁上的torrent下載鏈接，可以看到開始下載一個.torrent的文件（右鍵Save As，把.torrent下載到硬盤上再雙擊也是可以的）：


這個文件很小(一般20k-100k)，很快就下載完了，接著就彈出對話框詢問文件/文件夾 存放位置（BT可以發佈整個目錄）：

　　接著BT開始分配空間（產生一個和目標文件一樣的大小的空文件），需要1到2分鐘，視下載文件大小而定。如圖是分配空間進度：（注意：此時download rate 與upload rate 的沒有數值）

　　分配空間完畢，就會自行下載文件。如圖是下載進度：（注意：此時download rate 與upload rate 的有0值，這是下載與上傳的速率。初始時下載會比較慢，它會隨著你你上傳的速度增加而增加，因為BT軟件會優先於上傳速度快的人）

　　接著下載就正式開始了，可以看到，剛開始的速度不快：

　　如果你中途中斷下載，沒關係，支持斷點續傳。
　　到論壇/發佈頁面重新點擊下載鏈接,在彈出的保存位置對話框中，覆蓋上一次的文件或者目錄。

　　BT會掃瞄一遍上次未下載完成的文件。

　　繼續等待（也許可以去睡個覺），直到看到這個畫面出現，說明下載完成。

　　請注意：此時不要馬上關閉這個窗口，因為這時候你可以給別人提供下載，正像別人給你提供下載一樣。BT就是靠這種方式持續運作的。提供上傳是不會影響你看剛下完的電影的。

　　如果你已經下載完成了，已經關閉了那個完成的窗口，想給別人提供下載源(reseed)。只要像續傳一樣覆蓋你下載完成的文件，BT掃瞄一遍以後，就開始提供上傳服務了。

I've actually tried all the BT clients I've heard of. This includes Burst, BitTorrent official, experimental, PTC, BT++, TorrentSpy(which is not, as you guys know, really a full-functional client but kind of a information program) and probably one or two more that I don't remember. I've actually never heard of Shareaza so I'll check that out soon.

BT++ just takes too much system resources. And it lets you set the upload rate very low, which I don't like. On the other hand it's neat lookin', support logging, have a kind of history-window and used to be updated quite often. Haven't seen a new version in about a month now, and the CVS doesn't seem to have changed either.. So don't know what's going on. This client has alot of potensial, but they need to fix the heavy resource usage and set minimum upload speed to atleast 8-10k/s. I've heard, but as I don't have it installed right now can't check it, that you can set BT++ to automatically not seed when you're finished leeching a torrent. This is not what BT is about. Some people have rapported that BT++ is kinda unstable. (it is in alpha stages)

PTC also has great potensial. As said in this post before, it has a great history-tab and have a genuine and easy-to-use user interface. Quote theatre: "It allows you to throttle downloads, shares upload bandwidth between downloads automatically allowing you to have open a number of files you are seeding and will maximize your upload bandwidth." This client have some issues that needs to be sorted out, but I'm looking forward to newer versions.

BitTorrent Official is extremly basic. It doesn't give you much info on what's going on in the background and what's happening with your torrents. Every open torrent is a new window which you can't hide. So if you leech and seed alot of torrents you'll end up having alot of annoying windows open. This client is however extremly easy to use, but since there are so many good clients out there, the official client should only be used to be familiar with how .torrents work and then move on to one of the more advanced clients.

BitTorrent Experimental works kinda the same way as the official client, but is more advanced and it gives you information on what's going on in the background. This client is also very easy to use, but is also somewhat basic as it doesn't support history, logs and such. A new version seems to be out once or up to twice a month, but is usually just bug fixes or small adjustments. BT experimental lets you set the upload rate very low, which I again don't like. But all in all a good client.

Burst! is an advanced client that gives you alot of information and have many nice functions. It works together with TorrentSpy in a good way so that you can even get more information about a torrent if you want to. Burst! is however lacking some functionality. There is no history or logging and the old dos-window with all the information on an open torrent is ugly and doesn't blend in with the rest of the GUI. Currently burst is in version RC1 and an upcoming RC2, which is, as said before in this post, a complete rewrite, looks very promising. The author, kRYPT, has promised alot of changes, many of which the users have asked for.

My conclusion is; get familiar with burst! and wait for the RC2, it's probably going to be the best client around.
