saying 的正確用法非常地簡單，那就是作引述別人說過的話，例如古聖先或他人或自己）所說過的話。

例一，我曾說過我不喜歡吸煙的壞習慣。

例二，在引述中華民國國父所說過的「革命尚未成功，同志仍需努力。」
